School of Computer and Information Technology

In March 2000, a new School of Computer and Information Technology (CIT) was established on the basis of the amalgamation of the Department of Electronic Engineering established in 1917, which was later called the Department of Computer Science and Technology, the Institute of Information Science established in 1978 and some other departments. It has been the cradle to educate high-ranked professionals and specialists in the field of computer science and information science. The school comprises the Department of Computer Science, the Department of Computer Engineering, the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the Institute of Information Science,the Research Center for Network Management, and the Teaching Base of Computer Courses.

Currently, there are 178 teaching staff in the CIT, among whom there is 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (part-time), 18 Ph.D. supervisors, 17 professors, 45 associate professors, and 10 senior engineers. The total enrollment of the CIT is about 2366, including 1601 undergraduates, 645 master candidates, and 120 doctor candidates.
